Based on recent advancements in materials science and the semiconductor industry, organic electronics are fundamental components in virtually all electronic products that are manufactured using printing-type processes instead of traditional assembly methods. The development of these new ways to conduct high-speed manufacturing of miniaturized electronic components promises to revolutionize the capabilities and prices of many of today’s consumer and industrial products. Developers of the new technology are targeting many of the building blocks of today’s electronics. Components and products such as logic, displays, memory, RFID barcodes, power, sensors, electromagnetic shielding, lighting, photovoltaics, transistors, lasers, batteries, inductors and antennas are all seen as prime candidates. Manufacturers of advanced materials, printing equipment, semiconductors and electronic products are among the key players jockeying for leadership in what is seen as a disruptive new technology that will displace traditional methods of production on a broad scale while bringing significant new capabilities to many products. “This magazine will provide a forum for sharing of knowledge and advancements in all aspects of organic and printed electronics,” said David Webster, president of Webcom. “The benefits of these new technologies are potentially profound, but as development shifts into commercialization through diverse markets there are still many hurdles to overcome. Our objective is to help professionals involved to keep abreast of the progress and the choices they face.” At the same time, the publication will provide a cost-effective way for vendors providing products and services for the organics and printed electronics marketplace to reach qualified buyers and specifiers with a magnitude that has not been possible before. Like other Webcom titles, Organic & Printed Electronics will have online, directory and database components in addition to the print publication. “The best trade media help marketers reach their specialized prospects with a genuine value proposition in a variety of platforms including print, online and direct marketing. This title is designed to accomplish that mission for vendors involved in organic and printed electronics,” said Webster. Organic & Printed Electronics will begin publication in September 2007 as a full-color, high-quality print magazine with a distribution of 7,000 copies in North America. Its companion internet portal, About Webcom Communications Corp.: Webcom is a diversified media company based in Greenwood Village, Colorado that serves advanced technology fields worldwide through its magazines, web portals, newsletters, directories, database products and industry events.
